So why doesn’t beta-alanine benefit exercises lasting less than 1 minute? When supplementing beta-alanine for these types of exercises, expect to see benefits that include: This could be high repetition weight lifting, circuit training, running, rowing, swimming, and more. There are benefits, but it all depends on the type of exercise you engage in.īouts of high-intensity exercise that last between 1 to 4 minutes are demonstrating decent results (1). We're not just boosting muscle carnosine levels for the heck of it, right? The question remains, however: does a higher muscle Carnosine level actually leaf to enhanced performance or exercise adaptation? At 4 grams of supplemented beta-alanine daily (every day) this will take about 6 weeks. The amount of histidine in our body doesn’t typically limit Carnosine production, but the amount of beta-alanine does.Įxpect to take around 180 grams of beta-alanine in order to get your muscle carnosine levels elevated. With regards to performance enhancement, most research points towards a dosage range of 4-6 grams daily (every day, training or rest day).Ĭarnosine is a muscle-specific dipeptide that has antioxidant and acid buffering roles.Ĭarnosine is made-up of 2 amino acids (dipeptide), which are beta-alanine and histidine. Taking anywhere between 2 to 6 grams of beta-alanine daily, causes muscle Carnosine level to dramatically increase, somewhere in the range of 20 to 80% (depending on the person).Īnd a muscle carnosine boost is exactly what we want to achieve with beta-alanine supplementation. and then some (not recommended).įortunately, the research is quite clear on beta-alanine. ![]() In the latter case, alerts through the app keep you posted on whether the lock thinks you are at home (unlocked), or away (locked), but there are warnings such as not to turn your phone off while away otherwise the location data can be inaccurate. The Yale Linus lock offers Bluetooth proximity unlocking, which works well enough, and geofenced lock/unlock, which also works but seems a little unnecessary. The main benefit (apart from easy installation), is that the insurance rating of your lock should be unaffected, and the Linus can be removed at a later date without major work – ideal for a rental situation. It’s an ingenious solution and with the supplied screws and backplate it’s easy enough to attach to the interior of a Euro cylinder door. When triggered, Linus turns the key on the inside, unlocking the door. The premise here is that the exterior Euro cylinder lock and handle remain untouched, while the interior handle is removed, a key inserted into the lock, and the Linus Smartlock screwed on top. Indeed, the similarities to the US-only August One locks are considerable. The Linus lock is one of Yale’s most recent forays into smart locks, and takes a more US-style approach to tackle the problem of smartening up home security. Dimensions: 28cm x 6.2cm (internal door plate).Smart home platforms: Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit.The attention to detail is impressive, and the quality is equally so. These can all be used to open the door, a fact that makes it very unlikely you’ll be accidentally locked out. Indeed, the biggest faff in setup is syncing all the various elements – we had the lock, a wifi hub, a key fob, a separate number pad and a smartphone. The clever bits are numerous, but keeping your existing exterior handle is one of them, as is the fact that you can always use an old-fashioned key if you have to. Three screws later (and having inserted a new Brisant Euro cylinder core), and you have a smart lock. Designed to be user-installed, the kit comes with a variety of fitting options to suit most sizes of multi-point locking systems. The Brisant Ultion Nuki is the product of a partnership between UK security brand Brisant, and European smart home firm Nuki – the latter providing the tech, the former providing the security nous. We chose several locks from the established market leader for high-quality door locks, Yale, as well as some newer challengers. The smart locks on the list are a selection of UK-specific locks that fit British doors, an area of potential confusion we’ll dip into fully further down. We didn’t physically attack the locks to check for robustness or try to break in using aggressive digital hacking techniques. We then carried out a range of methods of opening (if available), over an extended period to check for consistency and any connectivity issues. We installed the locks into our test door(s), and connected them to an accompanying app and/or wider smart home platform like Alexa, Google Home or Apple Homekit. We set out to test a wide range of locks that are available and compatible with UK locksets - many US brands are not. The best smart locks have backup options so you can open the door if the batteries in the lock go flat, the wifi is down, or a brand’s servers suffer an outage. Some smart locks take this a step further, using keypads so a master code unlocks the door (if your keys are lost or your phone battery is exhausted), and in some cases fingerprint readers. ![]() This authenticates you to the lock and allows you to control it. The latter options contain a unique, virtual key that’s ideally encrypted to prevent interception. To unlock the smart lock, you will need a key, which can range from a standard metal key to a digital version in a mobile app, a credit card or a fob. ![]() The best smart locks work by replacing part of your existing locking system with a ‘smart’ element that can unlock the door – in some cases physically retracting the bolts, in others allowing the keyholder to do so using the manual handle.

Lemon stripes blog7/25/2023 ![]() We have over 1000 moms connecting daily and helping each other through difficult stages, recommending products, and giving advice. I’ve started a Facebook group for like-minded mamas who want positive, uplifting support. So, what am I doing to combat mom-shaming? No one else can possibly know her the way that I do, and watching her grow and thrive as a happy, smiley little ball of joy is all the confirmation I need to know that I’m doing the right thing. I remember that it’s their problem not mine and that I know what is best for my family and my baby. And guess what? I was right! People have criticized everything from how long I breastfed to what I feed her to our child care choices.īut now when someone is mean or nasty about my parenting decisions, I let it roll off. I knew that it would be the first of many, so my attitude had to change. My first emotion was fear… Was I going to be a terrible mother because I had a sip of wine at a wedding? Soon after, that turned to anger… How dare this person get inside my head and make me second guess my decisions! Then I got really sad… How would I get through my pregnancy and a lifetime of motherhood if I couldn’t handle one comment? (I’ve since realized that drinking even small amounts while pregnant is maybe the most polarizing topic on the planet so I never brought it up again!) The comment was in response to me talking about how my doctor had said it was ok to have a small glass of wine now and then during pregnancy. After years of blogging, I had gotten used to a certain amount of criticism and snark from readers, but when I was pregnant and someone commented that I would be “an awful mother”, it shook me to my core. I put my life out there every single day so I don’t expect everyone to love me or what I’m doing. I still have extreme guilt about the judging I did before I became a mother, but one of my goals as an influencer is to do whatever I can to combat mom-shaming and judgement. I realized quickly, as every mother does, that sometimes it’s just about survival mode and every day, you’re just trying to do your best! I’d judge moms for co-sleeping.Īnd then I had a baby and everything changed. I’d judge moms for letting their kids watch an iPad at lunch. I’d nod in agreement at how awful it was, but never fully understood the extent of it until I got pregnant.Īt the same time, before I had a baby I would judge moms without ever saying a word. Before I had a baby, I had heard the term “mom shaming” thrown around a lot by my friends and on social media.

Our proposed Meta-learning method outperforms the baseline reaching an F-score of 0.73. Results indicate that event log characteristics influence the representational capability of encodings differently. We used three encoding techniques from different families, 80 log descriptors, 168 event logs, and six anomaly types for experiments. Our method extracts meta-features from an event log and recommends the most suitable encoding technique to increase the anomaly detection performance. In this work, we combine the representational power of encoding with a Meta-learning strategy to enhance the detection of anomalous traces in event logs towards fitting the best discriminative capability between common and irregular traces. The considerable number of techniques and reduced availability of experts pose an additional challenge to detecting anomalous traces for particular event log scenarios. However, in many real-world environments, the log is noisy and the model unavailable, requiring more robust techniques and expert assistance to perform conformance checking. These methods rely on the comparison of the event log obtained and the designed process model. Conformance checking techniques are usually employed in these situations. Focusing on mitigating this phenomenon, organizations spend efforts to detect anomalous traces in their business processes to save resources and improve process execution. Anomalous traces diminish the event log’s quality due to bad execution or security issues, for instance. |
